Corporate History

 
Monode was incorporated in Cleveland in 1956. The early technology in electro-chemical etching provided a solution for many marking problems. The process marks hardened parts, with a non-destructive, permanent mark long before lasers and computer controlled markers. The early years of Monode were defined by setting a service standard that provided etch power supplies and equipment from stock and custom stencils in a week.
 
The founder sold Monode to Imperial Stamp and Engraving in 1975. A new growth spurt followed that established Monode as both a  trusted service provider and a "process". When the founder of Imperial Stamp passed, Monode was soon again independent but solidly on a double-digit growth pattern.
 
The information age gave birth to new marking processes such as laser and computer-controlled marking.  As a result, Monode has continued to expand the core of its business with new products and innovative production methods. Acquisitions, new products in steel stamp manufacturing, distribution of equipment for plastic decorating by hot stamp and pad printing have added to the growth. Additionally, Monode's growth has been spurred by the Manufacture of the Monode PMS-2001 single pin product line, and by a distribution agreement with SIC Marking of France.
