Frequently Asked Questions

Global Traceability of critical parts depends upon correct information on the part that your are tracking and a database connection to the “data” relevant to the part. A “fat finger error” or mistake in parts marking can poison the process. TRIAD is foremost a midware software to eliminate quality escapes in the marking process. Every firm may have special needs or specific requirements. The flexible nature of TRIAD generates many questions.

Question: How does TRIAD work for a small “mom and pop” firm?

Answer:   The software is designed with a flexible core program in three basic levels. At the basic level the program resides in a PC hooked up to a (or multiple) marking machines. Suitable features are added that will ensure a return on the investment. For the most part smaller firms may be best served by a “lite” version of TRIAD II.

Question: Our firm has several manufacturing areas, to better control serialization I would like a network version of traceability software, is that available in TRIAD II?

Answer: New with TRIAD II is both a “network version” as well as a “internet version”. These formats are written in DOT.NET and easily integrated into current MES or database systems. Not only is the software structure open to work with SAP, SQL, Oracle or Access there is a conversion feature that allows communication between different systems. For example, in the marking program there is a trigger to query a SQL application to obtain the appropriate serial number, the part is marked and the Oracle based MES is updated with the parts UII.

Question: I need cost effective support, how do I get individualized support without paying large hourly rates?

Answer: TRIAD “Lite” is sold with installation and training quoted as a clear defined line item. Each sale includes a fixed number of hours of on-line or telephone support. Bugs or conflicts are fixed at no charge and are initiated by calling a 24/7 TRIAD Help Line. Network or Internet versions are sold with a yearly maintenance fee which varies depending upon the number of active marking seats. The maintenance fee is inclusive of new updates, problem solving and custom modifications.

Question: In my enterprise I require a wide range of identification processes such as labels, nameplates and direct parts marking with laser and pin markers, how does TRIAD address different marking technologies?

Answer: The user / machine interface at the marking station is the feature of TRIAD that holds the largest return of investment. Although you can mold the interface to fit your production needs TRIAD has the ability to use one interface in front of label printers, nameplate markers, laser marking machines, pin markers, electro-chemical etch, C02 or YAG lasers (and more). Real benefits in operator training, real savings in reduction of mismarked parts and integration of verification (if needed) are indeed the hallmark of TRIAD.
