Precision Die & Tooling

Tolerances Most Shops Can't Hold. Precision Die and Tooling Built to Run for Years.

Monode engineers high-precision dies and production tooling to tolerances most companies in the United States can’t accomplish. Every die is made in-house from scratch and built for the durability and repeatability that high-volume production demands. Bring us the requirement and we'll engineer the die and tooling that holds your tolerance.
Capability & Process

Made In-House, From Bar Stock to Inspected Die

warehouse picture

Very few companies can accomplish the level of precision Monode can.

Dot peen, laser, electrochemical etch, scribe, steel stamp and machine vision are built and supported by one team. The recommendation follows your part, never the box we happen to stock.

Precision at this level comes from extensive experience and controlling every step in-house.

Owning the whole process is how we hold tolerances this tight and repeat them across a production order. Our engineers model and program every die in SolidWorks, Mastercam, and Type3, then transform raw bar stock into engraved dies and production tooling through:

  • Precision grinding
  • In-house heat treatment
  • CNC machining
  • Centers and Lathes
  • Hard turning and hard milling
  • Wire, Sinker, and oscillator EDM
  • EDM engraving
  • Polishing and finishing
  • Microscope inspection, precision measuring systems, and CMM verification

Precision Dies and Tooling Built for
High-Volume Production

Our dies and tooling mark and form the parts that run at the highest volumes, where a worn or out-of-tolerance tool means costly downtime. Typical work includes:

Rigid metal packaging tooling

Precision dies for cans, lids, and closures in food and beverage production.

Tobacco tin and closure tooling

High-volume dies for tobacco packaging.

Roll stamp and production dies

Durable tooling for continuous, high-throughput marking.

Steel stamp tooling

Precision engraved stamps for permanent impressions.
We serve these markets two ways: we make the tooling directly for producers, and we supply the machine builders who serve those end markets. In most cases the die is the consumable inside a factory-scale machine you already run. We engineer the die, you put it in and run it, and we make the next one when your information or your tooling changes.

What Separates Monode from Other
Die and Tooling Companies

A national rarity.

Only a handful of companies in the country can reliably hold the tolerances Monode achieves on a die face.

Tolerance you can specify to.

Die faces held to +0 / -0.0002 inch, with the capability to work to 0.0001 inch and tighter where the specification demands it.

Built to last at volume.

Tooling engineered for long service life and repeatable performance, run after run.

Fine-detail capability.

We can engineer even densely packed character layouts that most shops can't produce.
