Marking Technology

Monode Doesn't Just Mark. It Verifies.

Every mark Monode puts on a part can be checked, and every result can feed a single traceability record instead of sitting in a separate downstream step. Whether you need a standalone reader on the shop floor or a vision system built directly into a marking cell, Monode designs verification as part of the process, not an afterthought added after a failed audit.

Marking is the single through-line for our extensive experience in the industry.

Standards Authority on Staff.

A contributing author to MIL-STD-130, AIM DPM-1-2006/ISO IEC TR 29158, and other industry standards is on staff.

50,000 sq. ft. of Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Machining Facility.

Near Cleveland, with a full machine shop, fabrication, assembly, inspection, laser lab, and stencil developing room, staffed by an in-house multidisciplinary team.

Same-Day Service Commitment.

Backed by secured on-site stock and a customer service desk monitored around the clock.

Validation vs.
Verification

Validation is the process of analyzing mark encoding schemes against industrial or government regulatory standards, confirming that the way a part is identified and structured meets the configuration and quality management requirements a program calls for.

Verification is the process of analyzing mark quality itself: whether the mark can survive the handling, processing, and supply chain it is about to go through, and whether it will still read correctly when it matters. Verification uses hardware and software together to grade a mark against those standards and to account for the interference that difficult substrates and processes introduce.

  • Verification tends to matter most in a few recurring situations:
  • Rapid production changeovers in discrete manufacturing
  • Extended mark-longevity requirements
  • Anti-counterfeit and authentication programs, which depend on marks being verified as high-quality and reliably readable
  • Processes where marks are prone to degrade over time

The best approach depends on your marking requirements. Monode can conduct an on-site needs analysis to help determine which strategy, or which combination, actually fits.

Standards fluency, not just usage.

We have a contributing author to MIL-STD-130, ATA Spec 2000, and other industry standards on staff.

Trusted by the vision industry itself.

Monode partners with leading vision technology companies, and its marking labs are used by those same companies to develop and tune reading algorithms across mark types, materials, and quality levels.

Patented and self-configuring.

The verifier's software automatically recognizes which lighting attachment is connected (90 degree, dome, quad, or ring) with no operator adjustment required.

Verification can live inside the marking cycle.

On the premium dot peen tier, an integrated sensor and software read each Data Matrix immediately, pass or fail, with no separate station. The Revolution laser system works the same way, verifying every mark as it's made and delivering parts with marks already confirmed, not checked after the fact.

Trusted in regulated medical environments.

Our solutions include verification work for major health systems and federal healthcare facilities.

What Happens When Verification is an Afterthought?

The buyers who get hit the hardest are the ones who added verification downstream, after a mark already failed an audit, rather than building it into the marking cycle from the start. Waiting to invest in verification is the more expensive path for several reasons:

  • The mark still has to be remade
  • The failure still has to be explained
  • The fix still costs more than it would have the first time

Verification designed into the process from day one is what prevents that conversation from happening at all. Monode systems includes verification from day one, with key features like integrated verification and Traceable-IT protecting your investments.
