Built, not just resold

Monode's first- and second-generation laser systems were built entirely in-house. Today's systems use ScanLab scan heads and fiber sources from SPI, Trumpf, IPG, and Maxphotonics, but Monode still designs, assembles, and integrates every system in Mentor, Ohio. Buying a Monode laser means investing in a system that Monode's own engineers can service and modify, not a box someone else built.

Honest Comparison

Laser is not always the right answer, and Monode will tell you when it is not

Laser is higher cost, lower labor, and more automated than electrochemical etching. For a low-volume application, that trade-off does not pay off: a good electrochemical etch system starts around $1,000 to $4,000, while a good low-cost laser system starts around $10,000.

Monode does build laser systems at that lower end of the range to stay accessible, but it’s important to balance required capabilities and overall value. If your volume does not justify the automation, Monode's engineers will point you to an alternative method that still meets your manufacturing demands and budget, instead of overselling a laser you do not need.
