What's the real difference between DF and DFDE?

DF is our toughest general-purpose construction, built for features at least 3/32" deep. DFDE is the deep-etch version of that same construction and is the stencil we use most often for deep-etch work specifically.

My stencil has a pinhole or a worn spot. Do I need to replace it?

Not necessarily. Stencil Magic repairs pin holes, leaks, and wear areas, which often extends a stencil's working life instead of forcing a full replacement.

Can I get a custom size?

Yes, we can provide stencils beyond our standard 2.5" x 7", 3.25" x 7", 5" x 7", and 8" x 10" sizes at a premium.

We process every stencil photographically in-house on a tough lacquer base built to hold up for thousands of marks.

How to Choose
Etching Stencils

Depth is the first decision. Running an automatic marking machine, or a rolling application like marking needles, changes the calculus: Insert Stencils are reinforced with a heavy-duty flexible frame and polarized locating holes so they re-register consistently onto your fixture, run after run. If your application is sheet-metal forming analysis rather than part identification, you’ll want to look for Grid Marking Stencils.

Our Dura-Fab (DF)

construction, on a synthetic woven fiber base, is built for stencil designs with features at least 3/32" deep

Dura-Fab Fine (DFF)

uses a closer weave and is a good fit if your artwork is finer or more detailed.

Dura-Fab Deep Etch (DFDE)

is our most commonly used stencil for deep etching jobs and doubles as a general-purpose stencil when needed.

Dura-Fab Fine Deep Etch (DFFDE)

combines fine detail with deep etch, ideal for scales, lines, or grid patterns.
